I've really enjoyed my final few weeks in Connecticut before I head out on my big trip to Poland. I got to do a lot of things during that time that will make me miss UConn a lot. I've been able to hang out with a great group of friends who kindly let me stay with them in the their Hill Top apartments and eat their food. I will have to get them something nice in Poland. Getting to master Wii Fit and beating a certain opponent (Peter) in almost every single challenge ever created by Nintendo was certainly worth the heated tension in our relationship. The final farewell party on Friday was great. I was expecting nearly 200 people on facebook to come, including a couple football players, but luckily only my good friends came. It would have been too crowded if all those people came anyway. The cake I got from Rachel was legendary and even wished me a safe trip (Bezpiecznej Podróży!). From that cake, I'll always remember that for the Polish flag the white bar is on top and the red one goes on the bottom. Another highlight from the party must have been Matteusz and his Polish pride. The Polish Winter Olympics team definitely deserved that shout of POLISH POWER! (POLSKA SILNA!)Saturday was a day full of basketball. In the afternoon, I saw Husky Men's Basketball in their worst performance ever. After dinner with Stevie B, Erika, and Phil, I saw the Husky Women's Basketball team dominate as usual. The night time festivities were highlighted by all the Griffins coming up to see me for one last time. Those Griffins and their love of the beverage will make me especially miss UConn.
Sunday was my last night up at UConn. I waited until the last minute to tell everyone that I would not be spending the night anymore in order to reduce the tear shed. With the help of Vik, I made dinner for everyone who didn't go out for Valentine's Day. That night, our final game of inner tube water polo was very intense. Becky got Snooki punched, but she rallied and didn't let the kid she was defending get one goal. The score ended up in a tie after some bogus penalty shot, but it was still really fun. After collecting my things from the apartment I said good bye to everyone and after a rendition of "Pants on the Ground," I made my way home. Hopefully that empty futon in the common room will not be too harsh of a memory that I am gone.I got a surprise extension to the farewell weekend when Rob came over after his law school interview. We got to go on a hike with Max. After scheduling time, Phil relented and allowed us to Skype with him while dinner was going. After, my mom told stories about how I beat up kids when I was younger and Rob got to hang with the complete Buchek family before I left for good. I will definitely keep updating this blog and I hope all you guys tell me what's been going on back home.
